The Secondary Social Studies Teacher will plan, organize, and implement an engaging instructional environment that encourages students to grow academically, socially, and spiritually while incorporating a biblical worldview into all areas of instruction. The position operates under the supervision of the Secondary Principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to: Ability to integrate biblical worldview and character development into daily instruction Modeling of Christ-like character, integrity, and kindness Comfort leading prayer, devotionals, or faith-based discussions appropriate for young learners Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. Develop curriculum-aligned lesson plans, assessments, and instructional strategies. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and technology to support and differentiate instruction. Establish and enforce rules and procedures to maintain a structured classroom environment. Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student work, encouraging individual progress. Maintain accurate records of student progress and development, updating necessary reports as required. Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding academic progress and student needs. Establish clear learning objectives and expectations for all classroom activities. Engage students with a variety of instructional resources and learning strategies. Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and classwork. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events. Encourage parental and community involvement through proactive communication. Support extracurricular activities, including clubs, student organizations, and school events, as directed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification :
Florida State certification in teaching (preferred) or the ability to obtain certification within three years of hire. Strong ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment for students of diverse backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration. Commitment to the school's mission and integrating a biblical worldview into teaching. Ability to meet professional education requirements as outlined by the school and state.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. Must operate computers, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
