Job Overview Athenian Academy is seeking passionate and dedicated educators to fill K-8 Teaching Positions across a variety of subject areas. The ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in elementary and/or middle school education, with the ability to create a positive, engaging learning environment that honors both academic rigor and student individuality. Experience integrating technology and the arts into instruction, managing diverse classrooms, and differentiating for a range of learners is highly valued. Teachers at Athenian Academy play a vital role in shaping students' academic, creative, and social development. This position offers an opportunity to teach in a school with a clear identity, a supportive culture, and a model that gives educators room to be creative, collaborative, and impactful. Duties Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans for assigned grade levels (K-8) that reflect Athenian Academy's integrated technology and arts philosophy. Deliver instruction across core subject areas including Math (Arithmetic through Algebra and beyond), Literacy and Language Arts, Creative Writing, Science, and Social Studies, depending on grade level and assignment. Intentionally integrate technology tools and arts-based strategies into daily instruction to deepen student engagement and support diverse learning styles. Assess student progress through a balanced approach of standardized testing, formative assessments, project-based evaluations, and performance tasks. Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment through consistent, proactive behavior management aligned with the school's character education framework. Provide individualized academic support, tutoring, and mentoring to help each student reach their full potential. Collaborate with grade-level and content-area colleagues on curriculum planning, cross-curricular projects, school events, and extracurricular programs. Communicate regularly and proactively with families regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth through conferences, digital communication platforms, and written reports. Participate in school-wide professional development, PLCs, and continuous improvement activities aligned with Cognia accreditation standards. Support special education needs by implementing IEP accommodations, 504 Plans, and ELL modifications in the general education classroom in compliance with IDEA and Florida law. Contribute to the broader school community through participation in school activities, family engagement events, and the positive culture that defines Athenian Academy. Skills & Qualifications Strong content knowledge in one or more core academic subjects: Math, Literacy/Language Arts, Creative Writing, Science, or the Arts. Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning that addresses diverse learning styles, ability levels, and student backgrounds. Proficiency with educational technology tools that support instruction, assessment, and student engagement in a modern classroom setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, families, and school leadership. Proven classroom management skills that foster a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment. Genuine commitment to the whole child — academic growth, character development, and social-emotional well-being. Ability to mentor and connect with students across a range of ages, backgrounds, and ability levels with patience, creativity, and high expectations. Familiarity with Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards and state assessment frameworks. Experience with or openness to arts integration, project-based learning, or STEAM instructional models is a strong plus. Knowledge of special education practices, childhood development, and differentiated instruction strategies. Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring accommodations or enrichment. Prior experience in a charter school, small school, or community-based educational setting is preferred. Requirements Valid Florida Educator Certificate (or eligibility to obtain) in the relevant subject area and grade level, pursuant to § 1012.56, Florida Statutes. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Satisfactory Level 2 background check clearance as required by Florida law. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, mission-driven school environment.
