Job Description

Crestwell School is a growing independent private non-profit school serving students in grades PreK-8 in Fort Myers, Florida. At Crestwell, students find joy and purpose in learning by doing. Position Summary Crestwell School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School English Teacher for grades 6-8 who can inspire students through literature, writing, communication, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction while fostering creativity, collaboration, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills in a student-centered learning environment. This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys building meaningful relationships with middle school students, integrating innovative instructional strategies into the classroom, and contributing to a collaborative and supportive school culture. Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum Delivery Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned English Language Arts lessons for students in grades 6-8. Foster strong reading comprehension, analytical writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and academic needs. Incorporate project-based learning, discussion-based instruction, creative writing, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Utilize 1:1 digital learning tools to enhance instruction and student engagement. Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction accordingly. Maintain data-driven instructional practices, including analysis of student performance data to guide instruction and interventions. Classroom Management Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and challenged. Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote engagement, accountability, and student ownership. Support the development of executive functioning, communication, and social-emotional skills appropriate for middle school learners. Collaboration & Professional Development Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support a cohesive educational experience for all students. Participate in professional development and ongoing instructional reflection. Attend grade-level meetings, planning sessions, school events, and academic review meetings. Contribute positively to the school's mission, culture, and community. Family & Community Engagement Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events. Participate in scheduled parent-teacher conferences and school communication processes. Encourage family involvement and maintain strong school-home partnerships. Represent Crestwell School positively within the broader community. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Language Arts, or a related field required. Florida teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification). Experience teaching middle school English Language Arts preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to create an engaging, creative, and inclusive learning environment.
