JOB DESCRIPTION
To prepare and provide grade-relevant learning activities that enable students to learn concepts and principles of science.
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
1. Plan and prepare lesson plans that meet core objectives and principles and are in line with the curriculum goals. 2. Prepare instructional aids and supplemental teaching materials and resources consistent with learning objectives and student needs. 3. Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and school supplies as needed. 4. Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of students. 5. Ability to effectively teach mathematics skills and concept to students. 6. Promote students' understanding of and appreciation for mathematics. 7. Thoughtfully integrate technology that engages students in mathematical thinking . 8. Encourage the development of critical thinking skills.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
1. Create a safe and flexible classroom environment conducive to optimal student learning. 2. Help students to work independently and collaboratively in groups. 3. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that conform to School and District policies and promote learning in the classroom. 4. Encourage student responsibility, cooperation, tolerance, and mutual respect in a manner consistent with School and District policies and procedures. 5. Keep parents or guardians informed of students' academic progress, social, and behavioral issues.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
1. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. 2. Undertake professional development activities to ensure continued professional growth and development of teaching skills. 3. Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations. 4. Cooperates with the administration in planning appropriate in-services training programs at the school or at the district level.
STUDENT EVALUATION
1. Track and monitor student learning using a variety of techniques. 2. Prepare and administer assessments that are curriculum-aligned. 3. Grade assessments and assignments. 4. Keep current with district and state standardized testing and maximize student achievement on these tests. 5. Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs. 6. Monitor performance and progress and modify instructional methods to meet individual needs where necessary. 7. Foster good working relationships with students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and other stakeholders to support the development and well-being of students. 8. Keep parents or guardians informed of students' academic progress, social, and behavioral issues. 9. Maintain accurate and complete student records including attendance, grades, assessments, and test scores as required by district and school procedures and regulations. 10. Provides progress and interim reports as required.
CERTIFICATION/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree with a concentration in science. Official Statement of Status of Eligibility stating that the applicant is eligible for certification in-field. Temporary/Professional Certificate from the Florida Department of Education in the subject area
