In this role, you will deliver engaging biology lessons, foster curiosity about the natural world, and cultivate a supportive learning environment. Your expertise will help students develop a deep understanding of biological concepts, scientific research methods, and laboratory techniques. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive biology curricula aligned with educational standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools. Deliver dynamic lessons covering topics such as cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and molecular biology. Design and supervise laboratory experiments, dissections, and research projects to enhance hands-on learning experiences. Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, standardized tests, and project evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive and inclusive environment conducive to learning. Mentor students individually or in groups, offering academic advising and tutoring in science subjects including calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, differential equations, and discrete math. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school activities; participate in professional development opportunities related to higher education teaching and special education. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral reports; communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field; Master's degree or higher preferred. Valid teaching certification/license for high school science education; state-specific credentials required. Proven classroom experience in teaching biology at the high school level; private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of biological sciences including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and scientific research methods. Proficiency with learning technology platforms and laboratory equipment; experience with research laboratory procedures highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Demonstrated classroom management skills coupled with behavior management techniques. Ability to develop lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles for varied learners including those in special education settings or Montessori environments. Experience with standardized testing preparation and curriculum development for science education. Skills in proofreading educational materials and supporting students through tutoring or mentoring sessions.
