ELEMENTARY LEAD TEACHER
Seeking a full-time educator in our wonderful, mixed-age elementary classroom located in south St. Pete.
Start Date:
late-July (one-week of orientation/training); mid-August (official start)
Starting Pay:
$36,062/year
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:15am-3:15pm; Paid plan time each week; One day per week schedule is 8:15am-4:45pm

The Lead Teacher is able to work in a bilingual, nontraditional school environment alongside an incredible team of educators to create meaningful learning experiences for our students. She/he/they will be joining an intentionally chosen team to carry out the heart of Canguros where we cultivate connection and positive mental health in children. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Whole Student Education:
Design and effectively teach differentiated lesson plans, using school-approved curriculum that promotes whole child development through experiential-learning. Actively supervise and engage with students in a manner that promotes our school values and maintains positive classroom management. Monitor student progress through observations, assessments, and student portfolios, as directed.
Classroom Environment:
Maintain a tidy and organized classroom environment. Ensure the classroom environment is inclusive for students of varying needs and promotes experiential-learning. Notify the school director for any concerns related to the classroom environment, including any damages.
Communication & Culture:
Maintain school-value aligned communication with students, families, and team members. Uphold school policy on appropriate communication methods and timeframes when communicating with students, families, and team members. Promote a culture of inclusivity and value for diversity in all its forms. The above listed responsibilities are not meant to be exhaustive.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or higher or 3+ years of K-12 teaching or specialized skills/subject matter experience Previous experience working in a nontraditional school setting
Skills & Competencies:
Strong classroom management skills that align with our school values Comprehensive understanding of child development and developmentally-appropriate practices Positive communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other team members Ability to pass a Level II background screening with a clear criminal and abuse history Displays patience, adaptability, and creativity Displays emotional intelligence and an understanding of the importance of social-emotional learning Spanish exposure and/or fluency
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit, stand, and walk with ease and lift up to 75 lbs, if needed. Must be able to commit to monthly staff meetings and occasional evening/weekend school events and/or trainings. Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
