Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Instructional position responsible for providing educational leadership to students in an innovative charter school. The teacher is expected to understand and effectively implement the school's curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices to maximize student achievement. This role requires collaboration with colleagues, students, and families to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment while delivering creative, student-centered instruction that addresses multiple learning styles and intelligences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the subject area(s) taught, making content meaningful and engaging for students. Develop a classroom culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. Engage every student in grade-level appropriate learning experiences that promote academic success. Communicate and interact effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members while respecting diverse perspectives. Demonstrate professionalism and respect toward students, colleagues, administrators, and parents. Model and reinforce self-discipline, responsibility, and positive character traits. Collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and the community to support student learning and well-being. Provide instructional leadership that promotes a positive learning culture, embraces student diversity, and aligns classroom goals with the school's mission. Develop and implement strategic instructional plans, including annual, unit, and daily lesson plans. Provide opportunities for students to demonstrate progress toward graduation competencies, including becoming knowledgeable lifelong learners, responsible individuals, effective communicators, problem solvers, collaborative team members, and self-directed learners. Communicate student progress to parents and students through timely feedback and performance data. Utilize formal and informal assessment strategies to monitor student achievement and adjust instruction to maximize learning outcomes. Understand how students learn and provide learning experiences that support their intellectual, social, emotional, and personal development. Establish and maintain a safe, secure, and positive classroom environment. Address student misconduct promptly while resolving conflicts and classroom challenges effectively. Foster both independent learning and collaborative teamwork among students. Maintain a professional growth plan and actively participate in professional development opportunities. Recognize and celebrate student and parent contributions to academic success. Differentiate instruction to meet students' cultural backgrounds, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic differences. Identify and utilize instructional resources and materials that support student achievement and match appropriate reading levels. Design engaging lessons that promote active learning, hands-on experiences, critical thinking, and meaningful teacher-student and student-to-student interactions. Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning. Demonstrate positive classroom performance and measurable student achievement. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
