Job Description

Job Title:
Middle Grades History Teacher Position Overview:
Pinecrest Academy is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Middle Grades History Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students understand historical events, think critically about the past, and make meaningful connections to the present. This educator will create an engaging, student-centered classroom that promotes inquiry, discussion, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging history instruction aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards for Social Studies Develop lessons that promote critical thinking, primary source analysis, and historical inquiry Use assessment data (including FAST, where applicable) to guide instruction and differentiate for diverse learners Create a structured, positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement Integrate reading and writing strategies to support literacy within the content area Utilize technology and interactive strategies to enhance student learning Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements Participate in school events, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Social Science (Grades 5-9 or 6-12) Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching middle school social studies or history ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement Experience incorporating project-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction
