Job Description
MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH TEACHER
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. The school provides a learning environment that cultivates global citizenship, a spirit of service, respect for differences and strong character in its students. The Middle School Spanish Teacher teaches five classes of Spanish to students in the seventh and eighth grades.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares course objectives and outlines for courses of study in conjunction with other Middle School faculty, following curriculum guidelines and/or requirements of state and school Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops Effectively incorporates principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching and classroom culture Attends training, professional development and education in antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion Communicates effectively with parents and caregivers in a timely manner Leads parent-teacher conferences Attends parent gatherings and assists with school-sponsored trips Participates in the co-curricular activities of the school community (such as coaching, sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, etc.) Other duties may be assignedQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred. One or both should be in the respective content area. Two to five years of teaching experience required. Experience teaching middle school preferred Strong sense of humor, flexibility and desire to work with high-school students is required Demonstrated successful coaching experience desired Must be available for after-school student help Attendance at evening and weekend functions is occasionally required Belief in the critical importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the life of a school so as to foster a sense of belonging Proficient use of technology is necessary Must be able to work on campus for in-person learningWORKING CONDITIONS
Classroom environment that may regularly require the employee to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop or kneel Ability to sit at a computer desk for an extended period Ability to operate a computer, smart board and/or projector Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 30-50 lbs with assistanceDepartment:
