Middle School Faculty (Grade 7)

Middle School Reports to: Division Leader & Head of School Position begins: August 13, 2026 Experience Learning Beyond the Classroom! At Bergman Academy, students regularly take learning outdoors—whether exploring nature in science, seeking writing inspiration by the pond, or hiking through the woods in PE. Our beautiful campus, nestled at the heart of Greenwood and Ashworth Parks, provides a hands-on, inquiry-based environment that sparks curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Teachers are empowered to innovate, collaborate, and lead while guiding students to become confident, engaged learners. About Bergman Academy Bergman Academy is an independently accredited, state-recognized, secular school serving preschool through 8th grade. Small, intentionally structured classes foster meaningful relationships, personalized instruction, and a culture of courageous communication and lifelong learning. Our Early Childhood program follows the Reggio Emilia approach, giving our youngest learners the freedom to be curious and explore their world safely. Across all divisions, faculty embrace inquiry-based learning, creativity, and individualized support. Students of all ages benefit from dedicated instruction in a wide variety of subjects including technology, science, art, music, band, and Spanish—programs that enrich the core curriculum and allow students to explore new talents and passions. Our middle school students serve as leaders within our community. Whether mentoring younger students, participating in Model UN, directing films, creating websites and apps, engaging with guest speakers, writing poetry, or leading service-learning and philanthropy projects, students are encouraged to utilize their own voices and unique gifts to make a difference. Position Overview Middle school teachers lead classes of approximately 16 students, building strong relationships and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Teachers collaborate closely with colleagues across disciplines, participate actively in division meetings and school life, and inspire students to grow both academically and personally. The ideal candidate understands and appreciates the unique developmental needs of middle school students and is excited to foster independence, confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking in young adolescents. This position is for a middle school teacher who is comfortable teaching across multiple subject areas, with a preference for candidates who have a strong background or interest in mathematics. Flexibility and collaboration are essential. Key Responsibilities Deliver inquiry-based, differentiated instruction aligned with division curricula Foster a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and being curious Build strong partnerships with students, families, and colleagues Communicate thoughtfully and effectively in both written and verbal form Collaborate flexibly with teaching colleagues and specialists Design creative ways to make learning visible and engaging Contribute positively to school culture and participate in school events Perform community responsibilities such as lunch/recess supervision and carline support Our Ideal Teacher Hold at minimum a bachelor's degree in education Demonstrate strong content knowledge and a passion for teaching middle school students Have experience planning and facilitating differentiated instruction Possess a growth mindset, resilience, flexibility, and a sense of humor Prioritize relationships and community-building Desire an environment that challenges, supports, and expects each member of the community to reach their potential- including both students and teachers Find joy engaging with learners of all ages and their families Bergman Academy's Mission Statement To provide an environment that nurtures total development while guiding students toward the joy of lifelong learning.Pay:
