This full-time position will focus on equipping middle school students with essential life skills, including nutrition, cooking, financial literacy, and family dynamics. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, while promoting the importance of healthy lifestyles and responsible decision-making. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet state and national standards for Family Consumer Science.
  • Teach courses covering topics such as nutrition, cooking, personal finance, child development, and family relationships.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including projects, presentations, and tests.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Family Consumer Science concepts into other subject areas.
  • Organize and supervise hands-on activities, including cooking labs, financial simulations, and community service projects.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in Family Consumer Science education and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through committees and events. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Family Consumer Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Family Consumer Science or eligibility for certification.
  • Strong understanding of middle school educational practices and child development principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital resources for teaching and assessment.
