Job Description

Job Summary South Hills Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Middle School Multilingual Learner Teacher. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for our multilingual students. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching diverse learners and will work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the community to ensure that all students achieve academic success and develop their language skills. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds of multilingual learners. Assess students' language proficiency and academic progress, using data to inform instruction and provide targeted support. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of multilingual learners. Provide individualized and small group instruction to support language acquisition and academic achievement. Create a welcoming classroom environment that promotes cultural awareness and respect among all students. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and to engage them in their child's education. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and multicultural education. Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote inclusivity and support for multilingual learners. Serve as a resource for staff on strategies to support multilingual learners in various content areas. Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide reports as required by school administration. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in ESL, Bilingual Education, or a related area. Experience working with multilingual learners in a middle school setting is highly desirable. Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and effective instructional strategies for diverse learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Proficiency in a second language is a plus. Commitment to professional growth and collaboration within a team-oriented environment. Ability to create and implement culturally responsive teaching practices. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
