Job Description

Alpenglow After School Teacher The Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork is currently seeking candidates for a Grades After School Teacher The After School Teacher is an hourly position at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork. This teacher position coordinates a safe environment working out of the Waldorf Principles for grades, 1 - 8. This program will follow Waldorf philosophy of creating space for down time, socialization, free play and healthy snacks for students and childcare for working parents and WSRF staff. Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm except on Wednesday 2:00 to 5:30 pm. Aftercare is open during school dismissal half days and offers care during Winterfaire and Mayfair preparation.
Responsibilities for the children:
Plan age-appropriate activities Monitor and guide students Plan for and create snacks for a multi-age group Maintain copies of emergency information for food allergies and any other health information applying to students enrolled in the program Consult with parent and teachers to meet the needs of the students Keep track and welcome and dismiss students to aftercare at different times. Maintain knowledge of students at all times Responsibilities to the school: Keep attendance on a weekly roster and send records to the Office Manager at the end of each week for billing Direct families to register and make changes through the front office Prepare and clean up aftercare space Reports to School Director Program Organization Manage attendance, registration, and parent communication Contact parents when issues arise with their children, keep class teachers informed Maintain aftercare room (third grade), keep it clean, organized, tidy and welcoming Respect and use space in harmony and communicate with the class teacher to maintain a healthy relationship with the use of the classroom Supervise children during aftercare hours 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Have an overall awareness of what is happening and where. Be ready to step in to deal with situations when needed Responsible for waiting beyond 5:00pm (5:30 on Wednesday) with late pick up children if necessary. Once all children are picked up, tour indoor and outdoor aftercare areas to make sure everything is tidy, clean and ready for the next day. Be sure all doors are locked and closed Communicate with EC Aftercare employee if support is needed Purchase supplies and submit receipts and remain within budget Responsible for submitting a sub request in a timely manner and contacting FA if a sub is needed Guide younger assistants if and when the numbers of students exceed the manageable and safe number of 20.
Skills and knowledge:
Knowledge of developmental needs of children is required and an understanding of Waldorf Pedagogy is preferred Waldorf teacher training desired Bachelor's degree preferred First Aid and CPR certification required Two year minimum of experience working with children from grades 1st through 8th in a group setting This is an hourly position at the rate of $47 per hour.
