CULINARY ARTS TEACHER- MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL
About Us:
21st Century Charter School at Gary is a part of a network of high-quality public charter schools that deliver the innovative GEO Academies model developed by the GEO Foundation. It joins Gary Middle College and GEO Next Generation High School Indianapolis in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Indiana. 21st Century Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary school to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with local colleges and universities, our students will be able to take dual credit courses on the college campus to earn college and career credits at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model.REPORTS TO/TERM
Middle/High School Principal This is a full time 10-month position.ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Mastery of Subject Matter- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
- Display an ability to interpret and evaluate theories in the field or discipline.
- Connect subject matter with related fields.
- Stay current in subject matter through professional development. Teaching Performance
- Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs.
- Employ available instructional technology when appropriate.
- Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
- Communicate subject matter to students.
- Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials.
- Support classroom efforts to promote student success. Evaluation of Student Learning
- Establish and adhere to learning objectives.
- Develop evaluation methods which fairly measure student progress toward objectives.
- Evaluate and return student work to promote maximum learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Submit final grade rosters, grade books and attendance rosters to division administrators each semester according to established deadlines. Support of School Policies and Procedures
- Meet scheduled classes in accordance with college policy.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Exercise stewardship of GEO Academies' facilities and materials.
- Contribute to program curriculum development processes.
- Contribute to planning and development processes where appropriate.
- Attending all staff meetings and events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possesses an earned associates or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with 5 years of directly related experience in the field.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Holds professional certification in the field.
