Overview We are seeking a passionate and engaging part-time Choral Music Teacher to serve our middle school students in a private school setting. This position offers the opportunity to nurture students' vocal development, musicianship, and confidence within a close-knit academic community that values character, creativity, and excellence. The ideal candidate will foster a joyful and disciplined rehearsal environment, support the mission of the school, and inspire students to grow as singers, collaborators, and thoughtful young leaders. Duties Plan and deliver engaging choral music instruction for middle school students, using developmentally appropriate strategies that support varying skill levels and encourage artistic growth. Teach healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, rhythm, diction, and music literacy in ways that build confidence, discipline, and a love of ensemble singing. Select and rehearse age-appropriate choral repertoire that reflects musical excellence and supports the values and mission of the private school community. Prepare students for concerts or community performances, school events, and other presentations that highlight student achievement and school spirit. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate clearly with students and families regarding growth and performance expectations. Create a respectful, well-managed rehearsal environment that encourages responsibility, collaboration, and active participation. Collaborate with faculty, administration, and families to support students and contribute positively to the broader life of the school. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, Choral Conducting, or a related field. Teaching experience in choral music, general music, or middle school music education preferred. Strong knowledge of vocal pedagogy, choral rehearsal techniques, and age-appropriate repertoire selection. Ability to support the mission, values, and culture of a private school community. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and build positive relationships with students and families. Piano proficiency or the ability to accompany rehearsals and performances is a plus.
