Compensation will be determined by the Superintendent based on 187 contract days and appropriate board-approved teacher salary schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Kentucky Teacher Certificate with appropriate professional development to address the individual needs, interest and abilities of the students required. Approval/endorsement for teaching gifted students in addition to the regularly assigned teacher, or working for at least one-half of the regular school day in a classroom made up of only properly identified gifted students. Superior interpersonal skills. Successful teaching experience. Leadership experience. Experience in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. Knowledge/experience in meeting the needs of gifted students. Knowledge of Kentucky and federal regulations specifically related to gifted/talented students. Knowledge of technology.

Performance Responsibilities:

Coordinates additional experiences for gifted students both during and after the school day. Provides leadership to the faculty in identifying and meeting the needs of gifted students including development to implementation of Gifted Student Service Plans (GSSPs). Assists teachers and parents in completing the required forms and gathering the needed information for the District identification process. Submits all needed information to the district gifted/talented coordinator. Assures implementation of state and federal regulations on gifted/talented education. Keeps informed of grant opportunities, utilizing staff professional development funds, and shares this information in appropriate forms with the staff. Coordinates curriculum/gifted activities/information for parents and community. Attend District Identification Committee meetings for the purpose of selection and placement of students. Facilitates the selection and services of the Primary Talented Pool (elementary only). Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Principal may assign directly related to gifted instruction and curriculum.
