Safety Protocols:
Maintain a safe laboratory environment, ensuring all students follow OSHA and district-specific safety guidelines for chemicals, biological specimens, and equipment.
Material Management:
Oversee the procurement, organization, and maintenance of lab supplies, microscopes, and technology (e.g., probeware). 3.
Assessment & Accountability Three-Dimensional Assessment:
Develop assessments that evaluate not just what students know , but what they can do with that knowledge.
KSA Science Preparation:
Prepare students for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) by building the critical thinking skills necessary for the 8th-grade science accountability peak.
Data-Driven Instruction:
Use formative assessment data to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. 4.
Classroom Management Lab Transitions:
Execute seamless transitions between traditional seatwork and lab stations to maximize instructional time.
Collaborative Culture:
Foster a "culture of error" where students feel safe to hypothesize, fail, and re-test ideas.
Qualifications Certification:
Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate for Middle School Science (Grades 5-9).
Technical Proficiency:
Ability to integrate educational technology (Google Classroom, virtual simulations like PhET, and digital data collection).
Mindset:
A commitment to the "All Students, All Standards" philosophy, ensuring equitable access to high-level scientific concepts. Physical Requirements Ability to manage a science classroom/lab, which may include standing for long periods and safely handling lab equipment and materials.
