After-School STEM Instructor (Part-Time) The Advent School | Boston, MA The Advent School is seeking enthusiastic, innovative, and experienced After-School STEM Instructors to lead engaging, hands-on STEM enrichment classes for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 6 during the 2026-2027 academic year . We are particularly interested in educators and professionals who are passionate about inspiring young learners through project-based learning and experiential exploration in one or more of the following areas: Robotics Coding and Computer Science 3D Printing and Design Sound Engineering and Audio Production Videography and Digital Media Production This is an exciting opportunity for STEM educators, engineers, programmers, designers, makers, and technology professionals who enjoy working with children and helping them develop creativity, confidence, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities STEM Instruction Lead engaging, hands-on STEM classes for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 6. Teach foundational STEM concepts through age-appropriate projects, experiments, and challenges. Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and resilience through experiential learning. Introduce students to real-world STEM applications and emerging technologies. Adapt instruction to meet the developmental needs and skill levels of diverse learners. Curriculum and Lesson Planning Design creative, developmentally appropriate STEM lessons and projects. Incorporate inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches. Introduce students to a variety of STEM tools, technologies, and problem-solving strategies. Develop activities that encourage curiosity, innovation, and confidence. Classroom Management Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Establish clear expectations and effectively manage student behavior. Foster teamwork, collaboration, and respectful communication among students. Build meaningful relationships with students. Safety and Best Practices Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Teach and model responsible digital citizenship and ethical technology use. Ensure students safely use age-appropriate STEM tools, equipment, and materials. Follow all school safety policies and procedures. Qualifications Commitment to teaching throughout the 2026-2027 academic year . Education, training, or professional experience in one or more STEM-related fields. Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational, recreational, camp, or enrichment settings. Demonstrated ability to teach STEM concepts and skills to young learners. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Ability to design lesson plans, prepare materials, and manage time effectively. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
