Hours:
17 hours per week Monday ? Thursday. Exact hours will vary by position. Classroom Teachers 9am-12pm, Monday ? Wednesday Enrichment Teachers 12pm-3pm, Monday ? Wednesday All teachers are needed to chaperone Thursday field trips from 9am-3pm. All teachers will receive 2 hours of paid prep time per week.
We are hiring:
First Grade, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, and Middle/High School Math. We are also seeking Enrichment teachers for Art, Music and Physical Education.
Position Overview:
Summer Teachers lead academic instruction within a dynamic, culturally responsive summer program serving immigrant and refugee youth. Teachers design and deliver engaging lessons that support literacy, language development, and academic confidence while fostering a welcoming environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered. This role blends strong instructional practice with a deep commitment to supporting multilingual learners and students adjusting to new school systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver daily, standards-aligned lessons in literacy and/or math, incorporating hands-on, interactive, and culturally responsive approaches
- Differentiate instruction to meet a range of academic levels and support English language learners
- Create a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes engagement and belonging
- Integrate social-emotional learning and community-building into daily instruction
- Use visuals, scaffolding strategies, and language supports to ensure access for multilingual learners
- Collaborate closely with group leaders and teen staff to support classroom instruction and student engagement
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and effective behavior management strategies
- Communicate regularly with program leadership about student progress, needs, and any concerns
- Participate in staff trainings, curriculum planning, and team meetings
- Maintain organized and prepared classroom spaces
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a classroom or structured learning environment (K?12 preferred)
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Experience or interest in working with immigrant, refugee, or multilingual learner populations
- Ability to design engaging, student-centered lessons
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Teaching certification (or in progress) Preferred (but not required):
- Background in ESL/ELL or related field
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
