Aug 27, 2026 Job Description The Quabbin Regional School District is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated teacher to lead an alternative high school program, located in New Braintree, serving high school students in a non-traditional setting. This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about meeting students where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally—and who thrives in a flexible, student-centered environment. The ideal candidate will implement instructional strategies that support individual learning styles and promote academic success, personal growth, and social-emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in an alternative education setting.
  • Using an online platform, design and implement academic plans for individual students that aligned with state standards
  • Create a supportive, trauma-informed classroom environment that promotes respect, accountability, and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, special education staff, and families to develop student support plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Implement classroom management strategies focused on restorative practices and positive behavior interventions.
  • Facilitate life skills, career readiness, and/or social-emotional learning curricula as part of the program.
  • Support credit recovery, individualized learning, and flexible pacing to help students stay on track for graduation.
  • Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification (Special Education or Secondary Education preferred).
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, students with behavioral/emotional needs, or in alternative education settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Benefits and salary in accordance with the QRTA collective bargaining agreement.
Starting Range:
$63,981.54
