The Public Schools of Brookline seeks a Middle School Social Studies/Civics Teacher. We are searching for a dynamic and passionate educator dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, delivering engaging and rigorous instruction that meets the diverse needs of our students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teaching grade 8 Social Studies/Civics Teacher and one section of grade 8 Health Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and collaboration among students. Developing and implementing engaging and rigorous lessons utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and resources. Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of students and provide appropriate scaffolding and support as needed. Utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and resources to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Implementing effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues through clear communication and collaboration. Actively participating in professional development opportunities, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives to continuously improve teaching practices and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Performing other duties as directed by school leadership.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge about middle level learning and the developmental needs of adolescents Strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy Strong content knowledge and pedagogical skills Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods Strong classroom management skills Commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families Reflective practitioner with a growth mindset and a willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of students and the school community Massachusetts DESE teacher certification in History/Social Science (5-12) or in Middle School Humanities (5-8) Bachelor's degree SEI endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree Massachusetts DESE teacher certification in multiple areas Previous experience teaching middle school students

Reports To:

The Middle School Social Studies/Civics Teacher will report to the school building principal.
