To Be Determined Job Description Mentors 2026-2027 Mentors are hired to support teachers who are in their first three years in the district.
Stipend:
$1,374.65 THIS
IS ONLY FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES.
Qualifications:
Certified teacher. Strong instructional practice using evidence-based teaching and learning strategies. Willing to facilitate small group sessions to help new staff acclimate to the school and district as well as reflect on teaching practices. Ability to help colleagues navigate challenging situations. Working knowledge of Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets.
Duties:
Participate in a planning session and new teacher orientation day which occurs before the start of the school year Attend 3 planning meetings with mentor/induction program coordinator Plan and facilitate two meetings a month with mentees to meet the goals of the program (see below) Goals of the NAPS Mentor program: Promote the personal, professional well being and retention of new teachers to the district. To build relationships between new and experienced teaching staff. To acclimate new teachers to the climate and culture of their school. To improve teaching practice in order to raise the level of student achievement To heighten reflection and self assessment through peer coaching and observations. To participate in protocol led discussions that facilitate high levels of collegiality, collaboration and reflection. To analyze student work in order to best revise and adjust teacher practices to meet the needs of all learners.
