TECHNOLOGY/ENGINEERING TEACHER, GRADES 6-8
REPORTS TO:
Coordinator of Science
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Plan, teach, and evaluate assigned courses designed to meet the Massachusetts Science, Technology, and Engineering Frameworks. Perform those tasks associated with the teaching profession in general. Collaborate with and support the work of Science and Math classroom teachers. Inspire middle school students in all aspects of Science, Math, Technology and Engineering for future course and career pathways. Become especially responsive to the needs of students enrolled in our middle schools and make a constructive effort to serve the needs of our students through extracurricular activities and clubs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Plan, organize, and provide appropriate learning experiences within the assigned area of responsibility Establish and maintain an instructional atmosphere conducive to learning Complete assigned Project Lead the Way (PLTW) training and incorporate PLTW lessons Identify and explain the steps of the engineering design process Demonstrate appropriate application of interdisciplinary instruction Apply a variety of teaching techniques to the delivery of instruction Evaluate students academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports Perform all required duties (i.e. supervision, attendance taking, student/parent conferences, department/staff meetings, professional development, etc.) Maintain up-to-date and accurate records necessary for the effective management of the school program Responsible for delivering appropriate accommodations and services for all students Participate in professional development activities that align with school-wide educational goals Adhere to the requirements of the Educator Evaluation System Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Science and the building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelors degree in STEM or related field. MA DESE license in STEM related fields at appropriate grade-level Computer literate. Demonstrated proficiency in the execution of 2016 MA Science and Technology/Engineering Frameworks Familiar with Science, Technology/Engineering MCAS test items Demonstrated proficiency in the implementation of Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science Curriculum Framework (DLCS). Experience instructing at the middle school level is preferred. Ability to draw interdisciplinary connections between science, engineering, math, and technical fields. Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a caring, positive and constructive manner and specifically with students, teachers, school administrators, parents and volunteers.

The posted salary reflects a 1.0 FTE; this position will be pro-rated at 0.5 FTE.
