Job Description
2026-27 School Year KidConnect Group Leader Job Summary The Group Leader is an integral part of the KidConnect Licensed After School Program, contributing to a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for school-age children. The Group Leader will work directly with the KidConnect Director in the implementation and delivery of programs, activities, services, and special events for children K-2nd grade. For over 50 years, the mission of the Watertown Boys & Girls Club has been to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. As the largest non-profit organization dedicated to youth in the city of Watertown, WBGC is an integral part of the local community helping to make a positive impact on the lives of over 1000 boys & girls, and their families every day. Responsibilities Develop, promote, facilitate and deliver age-appropriate activities focused on the following areas: Arts & Education Character Development Fun, Entertainment & Recreation Skill Building Social Growth & Development BGCA National Initiatives Supervise child participation in programs, maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging environment that fosters creativity, teamwork, and respect. Respond to and provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems and concerns. Plan and execute special events in coordination with KidConnect Director. Abide by all Club policies and procedures for supervising children and enforce all required EEC licensing and safety regulations. Provide counseling, guidance, and behavior intervention to children as necessary. Identify and report any potential risks. Inspect facilities regularly and report any unsafe conditions/equipment. Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR. Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times. Any and all other duties assigned.
Qualifications :
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must meet one of the following criteria: Have a Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree; and have three months of experience working with school age children; or Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age childcare program; or Have nine months of experience with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age childcare program. Knowledge of child development and behavior management. Sound judgment, critical thinking skills and risk management. Creativity in program planning and implementation. Outgoing personality and able to connect with children. Must be able to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements for after-school programs. Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications. Willingness to complete additional training upon hire and engage in ongoing professional development.Job Type:
