Aviation Summer Program Teacher Westfield Public Schools

  • July 17, 2025. Other than holidays, class will be conducted Monday thru Friday from 7:00 AM

PMResponsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive FAA approved aviation powerplant maintenance training program
  • Instruct students in a variety of aviation powerplant maintenance disciplines in accordance with curriculum directives, including engine breakdown and reassembly, electrical systems, fire detection, and powerplant maintenance
  • Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback to students and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance in accordance with regulatory guidance
  • Collaborate with other instructors and program administrators to continuously improve the training program
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in aviation maintenance technology
Qualifications:
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics
  • Current A&P license or 3 years of Aviation experience in servicing, handling, teaching, work with and on aircraft.
MUST HAVE A STRONG MECHANICAL APTITUDE
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Federal Aviation Administration Orders
  • Proficient with Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circulars
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/ExcelWork is generally conducted at Westfield Technical Academys Aviation Department Hangar 2, located at Westfield Barnes Airport.
Occasionally, at the main campus. Position involves working with your hands and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. This position involves medium work with the regular lifting of up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting of as much as 100 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, as required for aircraft maintenance. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
