The Middle School Social Studies Teacher would be responsible for all lessons in Social Studies to students in grades 6th-8th. The middle school Social Studies teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student's acquisition and application of the Social Studies curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Essential Functions Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for grades 6-8 Teach topics such as U.S. and world history, civics, geography, economics, and government Incorporate primary sources, multimedia, and inquiry-based learning to deepen students' understanding Use a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Promote a classroom culture of respect, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity Integrate technology and cross-curricular connections into lessons when appropriate Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning Lead a school club Uphold the school's mission, values, and policies Perform other duties as assigned from time to time Position Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (concentration in History/Social Studies preferred). Current MSDE certification. Minimum of 3 years of experience (teaching middle/high school Social Studies preferred). Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred. Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons. Must have a commitment to Catholic School education.
