Middle School Physical Science Teacher

Glenelg Country School (GCS) is an independent day school serving students age 2 - grade 12. Our mission is to cultivate a diverse community of learners who discover, contribute, thrive, and excel. The Middle School seeks a full-time, 10-month Grade 6 Physical Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is an energetic and creative educator who demonstrates enthusiasm for working with students in grades 6-8, possesses a passion for science, contributes to a positive school culture, and emphasizes building relationships with students, staff, and the school community. The ability to develop and implement daily lessons that are both rigorous and engaging, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to collaborate are musts. In addition to teaching four sections of grade 6 Physical Science, the teacher advises a small group of students, coaches a team and/or sponsors an activity each trimester, and performs other duties within the Middle School as part of a grade-level team and the science department. GCS is a vibrant community built on the holistic development of its students.

Demonstrates content mastery and provides standards-aligned instruction in science. Develops a sense of partnership among students and between students and the teacher. Assesses and evaluates student progress. Implements varied teaching strategies, activities, and approaches to learning. Models good judgement and maturity. Embraces professional growth. Engages fully in the life of the school.

Desired Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in science or related concentrating is required with a Master's degree preferred. Experience working with middle or high school students is required. Experience and interest in coaching is a plus.

Compensation Range:

$55,000 - $75,000. GCS offers a robust benefits package including health insurances, retirement plan, and generous leave and holidays.
