Job Description

Welcome to Maine School Administrative District #75 Serving Maine's Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members. MSAD 75 is seeking a Spanish Teacher at Mt. Ararat Middle School to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: General classroom responsibilities include teacher Cultural Literacy (grade 6), Introduction to Spanish (grade 7), and Spanish I (grade 8) Work in a team-oriented environment to design engaging student-centered lessons based on clear Learning Targets and Learning Goals. Build positive relationships with students. Support a growth mindset in the classroom including how to learn from mistakes, persevere, manage impulsivity and develop grit. Use assessment data to find a student's readiness level so they can meet where they are and moved forward in their learning using feedback effectively. Participate in professional development in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Support non-instructional duties. Other duties as per Teacher Contract.
REQUIREMENTS
: Valid State of Maine Department of Education Spanish (440) Certification (conditional certification will be considered). Valid State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization. Demonstrated knowledge of Common Core State Standards and Maine Learning Results. Experience teaching world languages and cultures; experience in international travel preferred. Knowledge in the unique needs of the young adolescent and middle level philosophy. Experienced in a 1:1 computing environment including how to effectively use technology as an input source for knowledge. An understanding of a learner-centered proficiency-based education. An understanding of the Response to Intervention (RTI) model of student growth and support. Proven ability to function as a contributing member of a team.
