Full-time Job Title:
Middle School 8th Grade ELA Reports to: K-8 Principal Collaborative and community-focused, Delton Kellogg is committed to enriching the experience of staff by encouraging the sharing of knowledge and skills through teamwork, mentorship, and professional development. As an 8th Grade ELA Teacher you will inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills while creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy, student growth, and fostering a positive learning experience that prepares students for future academic success. Duties Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards. Develop lessons that promote reading comprehension, writing proficiency, vocabulary development, and critical thinking skills. Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to support academic growth. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Create and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to enhance student achievement. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Utilize technology and instructional resources to support student learning. Participate in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and school events. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
Requirements:
Degree Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field. License Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for English Language Arts (ELA) at the middle school level.
Qualifications:
A positive, flexible, and friendly attitude Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Passion for helping students achieve academic and personal success. Knowledge of best practices in literacy instruction and student engagement.
