We are seeking a passionate, student-centered educator to join our middle school team as a Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to become informed, engaged citizens through inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, discussion, analysis of multiple perspectives, and real-world connections. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to building positive relationships with students and families while creating engaging learning experiences that support academic growth and student success.
This position may also include providing targeted small-group academic intervention and support in English Language Arts based on student achievement data and building needs. Candidates should be comfortable utilizing assessment data to identify learning gaps, provide intervention support, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure all students receive the instruction and support necessary to succeed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Social Studies (RX) endorsement and appropriate grade-level distinctions required
Preference given to candidates holding multiple social studies endorsements and/or additional endorsements in English Language Arts, Reading, or other core academic areas
Experience providing small-group intervention and targeted support based on formative and summative assessment data preferred
Strong understanding of middle school social studies curriculum, disciplinary literacy, inquiry-based instructional practices, and standards-based instruction
Experience with or willingness to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), differentiated instruction, and intervention practices
Commitment to Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH), trauma-informed practices, and relationship-centered educational practices
Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs
Willingness to provide small-group support in English Language Arts and intervention settings as needed based on student achievement data and building needs
Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, and district instructional initiatives
Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence
Knowledge of one's own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences behavior, and a desire to learn about others' identities and experiences
