As part of Kenowa Hills Public Schools, we believe every student can succeed when provided with rigorous instruction, meaningful support, and a sense of belonging. We are seeking a passionate, student-centered English Language Arts teacher who is committed to helping all students become skilled readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers. While this position includes responsibility for grade-level ELA instruction, a significant component of the role involves providing targeted literacy intervention and support to students who are performing below grade level. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of adolescent literacy development and demonstrate expertise in structured literacy practices, intervention strategies, small-group instruction, and data-driven decision making. Candidates with elementary literacy backgrounds, LETRS training, Science of Reading knowledge, reading intervention experience, or experience implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) are strongly encouraged to apply. QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with English Language Arts (BX) endorsement and appropriate grade-level distinctions required Additional endorsement in English (BA), Reading, Elementary Education, Special Education, or other literacy-related areas preferred LETRS training, Science of Reading training, Structured Literacy training, or equivalent literacy intervention training strongly preferred Experience providing reading intervention, literacy support, and targeted small-group instruction strongly preferred Experience utilizing assessment data, progress monitoring tools, and intervention systems to identify learning gaps and accelerate student growth preferred Knowledge of adolescent literacy development, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing instruction, and literacy intervention practices Experience with i-Ready, MTSS, intervention programming, and data-driven instructional decision-making preferred Commitment to Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH), trauma-informed practices, and relationship-centered educational practices Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, and district instructional initiatives Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence Knowledge of one's own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences behavior, and a desire to learn about others' identities and experiences

WORK LOCATION REQUIREMENT
This position is an in-person role requiring regular, on-site attendance. The essential functions of this position cannot be performed remotely.
