QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of responsibility.
Bachelors Degree with major in curricular area.
Ability to positively represent the District and to communicate with others clearly and accurately.
Ability to be flexible and responsive.
Ability to manage student behavior.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
To facilitate the education of students utilizing a variety of resources.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Possesses an in-depth knowledge of curricular content and engages students in learning the curricular area utilizing content standards and benchmarks adopted by the Board of Education. Adapts curriculum to provide individual, small group, remedial, or accelerated instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classroom activities so that demonstrations, instruction, practice, etc., can be completed within the allotted time. Adapts materials and methods to develop relevant assignments that guide and challenge students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and materials consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved. Selects, requisitions, and distributes instructional resources appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students. Develops a balanced instructional program and designs learning activities that will relate the class content to the outside world. Develops standards for critical analysis of subject area through group discussion based on a variety of resources. Uses a variety of strategies and teacher-prepared instructional aides to demonstrate instructional concepts and to enhance learning. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment. Evaluates student progress in understanding and knowledge of content area through a variety of assessment instruments. Maintains an accurate record of student attendance and makes daily reports; maintains communications with appropriate parties concerning student attendance issues. Maintains a record of student grades (progress). Communicates with parents regarding student progress and expectations and responsibilities of the student, instructor, and parents. Communicates with counselors, administrators, and other professional staff in the building to discuss individual student progress. Identifies student needs and coordinates efforts with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the workday. Monitors student activities to ensure student safety when handling equipment and materials used to demonstrate curriculum content; provides for safe storage and proper use of equipment, tools, or other instructional materials to prevent loss or abuse. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs; maintains professional competence through attendance at staff development activities provided by the District; shows evidence of professional growth activities relative to job requirements.
Performs other duties as requested by the building principal.
