Job Description

Overview We are seeking a caring and responsible After School Care Aide to support our Montessori program by providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after regular school hours. The ideal candidate will assist with snack time, supervise indoor and outdoor play, and facilitate quiet activities such as reading or arts and crafts, while maintaining the principles of the Montessori philosophy.
Duties :
Supervision of Children Ensure a safe, calm, and engaging environment during after-school hours. Observe and guide children as they engage in independent or group activities. Snack Preparation and Cleanup Prepare and serve nutritious snacks. Encourage children to participate in cleanup to foster independence and responsibility. Maintaining the Environment Keep the after-school area tidy and organized. Ensure that materials are returned to their proper place and that the space reflects Montessori principles of order and beauty. Outdoor Play and Activities Supervise outdoor play with a focus on respectful social interaction, safety, and exploration. Engage children in activities that promote movement, cooperation, and creativity. Supporting Emotional and Social Development Model respectful communication and conflict resolution. Help children navigate social situations with kindness and empathy. Communication with Parents Greet and interact with parents at pick-up time. Share brief updates about the child's afternoon, if appropriate. Experience Candidates should possess experience working with children in various settings, such as daycare, camps, or tutoring environments.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience in babysitting or similar roles that demonstrate responsibility and care for children. Strong communication and interpersonal skills CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Patience, reliability, and a nurturing attitude This position is ideal for: High school students (ages 16+) looking for part-time work Individuals interested in early childhood education or exploring a career in Montessori teaching Those seeking hands-on experience in a nurturing, educational setting
