Exempt Reports to: Principal, Virtual Learning This position must report to an on-site Springfield Public Schools building 2 days per week.GENERAL PURPOSE
The Middle School Launch Teacher will deliver and provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for developing student success in academics and/or skills; supervising students in online settings; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators to deliver pre-designed curriculum and course work; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Launch teachers are expected to be positive promoters of online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and students' achievements and developing methods for improvement. Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing regular, high-quality feedback to students, parents and administration. Facilitates mandatory face-to-face or online proctored assessments. Collaborates with Launch Online Staff, curriculum facilitators, other school personnel, and parents for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established objectives. Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective education that addresses individual student learning needs. Facilitates student learning within a pre-designed curriculum by integrating technology, promoting collaboration, and supporting students' development in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills. Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g. grades, test scores, anecdotal records, lesson plans, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information, historical reference and documenting student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements. Monitors students and manages student behavior in an online environment for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Participates in a variety of trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Reports health and safety issues to administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Participates in continuous improvement efforts for the purpose of improving education results in the classroom, department and school. Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. Professional Development, department meetings, faculty meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, anecdotal records, lesson plans, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for support. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in job-related area, required. Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements Social Studies Education Missouri Teaching Certificate 5-9, required. Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required. Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; and behavioral management strategies. Skill to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
