Carolina Charter Academy is looking for an enthusiastic Middle School Teacher to guide students in grade 8 through the following core academic subjects: Math 1 and/or social studies. This role emphasizes building on elementary foundations, encouraging critical thinking, and preparing students for high school while supporting their social and emotional development during this transitional period.Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons in assigned core subject(s), using diverse teaching strategies to engage adolescent learners. Create a safe, respectful, and motivating classroom environment that supports academic growth and positive behavior. Evaluate student performance through assessments, projects, and observations; provide constructive feedback and track progress. Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including differentiated and inclusive practices. Foster student independence, critical thinking, and study skills to prepare for higher education levels. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student achievement and concerns as needed. Collaborate on interdisciplinary units, grade-level teams, and school-wide initiatives. Manage classroom discipline, attendance, and records in accordance with school policies. Participate in professional development, parent conferences, and extracurricular supervision as needed.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to use Google Workspace efficiently. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or the relevant subject area (Master's preferred). Valid state teaching certification/license for middle school (specific subject endorsement may apply depending on assignment). Experience teaching middle school students preferred. Strong understanding of adolescent development and middle school curriculum standards. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills. Commitment to creating an equitable and engaging learning environment.Position Type:
