10 General Definition of Work An educator in the Team Reach Teacher™ (TRT) role typically serves on a Multi-Classroom Leader® team, directly teaching more students than usual. All, or many, of the teachers on these teams may be in the Team Reach Teacher™ role, working as a team to extend reach to more students. This teacher is responsible for co-planning, co-preparing, and delivering instruction as well as co-monitoring student progress to determine instructional needs. The teacher supports the team with building a culture of data driven instruction through increased targeted small-group teaching, tutoring, and best practice. The teacher, along with the team leader, is also responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of instructional strategies and recommending changes. The teacher collaborates with others working with the same students or subjects, including other teachers and paraprofessionals on the team, to review student progress and change instruction to ensure high- progress, enriched learning for every student. Qualifications Knowledge of subject matter being taught Bachelor's degree Valid teaching certificate (optional, depending on school context and legal requirements) Responsibilities With guidance from team leader and in collaboration with team colleagues: Planning and Preparation Set high expectations of achievement that are ambitious and measurable for students Plan backward to align all lessons, activities, and assessments in designated subject(s) using a high-standards curriculum Design and implement instruction that is enriched (developing higher-order thinking skills) and personalized (reflecting learning levels and interests of individual students), prioritizing small-group teaching and tutoring Design assessments that accurately assess student growth Prepare paraprofessional to deliver small-group tutoring Classroom Environment Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement Create physical classroom environments conducive to collaborative and individual learning Establish a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport Instruction Hold students accountable for ambitious, measurable standards of academic achievement Identify and address individual students' social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs and barriers Identify and address individual students' development of organizational and time-management skills Incorporate questioning and discussion in student learning Monitor and analyze student assessment data to inform personalized, enriched instruction Provide paraprofessionals with student groupings, instructional assignments, and assessment rubrics Professional Responsibilities Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from multi-classroom leader and team members to improve professional skills Maintain regular communication with families, and work collaboratively with them to design learning at home and school, and to encourage a home life conducive to learning Collaborate with paraprofessionals, other teachers, and staff responsible for the same students Meet with team and leader to ensure alignment of instructional vision and delivery in all classrooms and to troubleshoot students' persistent learning challenges Maintain all instructional and noninstructional administrative duties allocated by the team leader Participate in professional development at school, including on-the-job development by the team leader
