Yesterday Job Description A Union County Public Schools (UCPS) Self-Contained Exceptional Children (ECS) Teacher manages a specialized classroom for students with significant cognitive disabilities, often serving approximately 9-12 students with the support of two instructional assistants. The role involves implementing the Extended Content Standards curriculum, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), data collection, and providing customized instruction. Key Responsibilities

Instruction:

Plan and deliver specialized instruction aligned with Extended Content Standards to meet diverse learning needs.

Classroom Management:

Manage a self-contained environment, often with 2 assistants, focusing on student safety and behavior support.

Data & Assessment:

Develop and implement data collection systems to track progress on IEP goals.

Collaboration:

Work with staff, parents, and administrators to foster student growth. Qualifications Must hold active North Carolina certification in Exceptional Children. Experience with Adaptive Curriculum and significant cognitive disabilities is often required.
