August 3, 2026 Carter G. Woodson School is actively recruiting High School Teachers (Grades 9-12) who are passionate about preparing scholars for college, careers, and leadership beyond graduation. We are a mission-driven charter school in Winston-Salem, NC committed to academic excellence, innovation, and scholar empowerment. Position Overview High School Teachers will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while preparing scholars for post-secondary success through critical thinking, leadership development, and real-world application. Key Responsibilities Teach engaging, standards-based high school courses Prepare scholars for college and career readiness Use data to improve instruction and outcomes Build strong relationships with adolescents Maintain high expectations for behavior and achievement Collaborate with instructional leadership and teams Support testing, assessments, and academic interventions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Valid North Carolina Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure) Minimum of 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience (preferred/required, based on your hiring standard) Experience in high school grades preferred Strong classroom management and instructional delivery skills Demonstrated commitment to student achievement, equity, and culturally responsive teaching practices Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions Strong collaboration, communication, and team engagement skills Why Teach at CGW?
