Bachelor's Degree Qualifications:
Must have or be eligible for a North Dakota teaching license qualified to teach Secondary education. Position Overview The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elective Teacher is a relationship-driven educator who prepares students in the academic middle for success in rigorous coursework and future college and career pathways. The AVID elective focuses on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading, notetaking, and study skills (WICOR), while supporting students across all content areas. Key Responsibilities Teach the AVID elective curriculum with fidelity, emphasizing WICOR strategies Build strong relationships and maintain high expectations for all students Support student success in rigorous coursework through organization, study skills, and tutorials Monitor academic progress and use data to guide instruction and interventions Advocate for equitable access to advanced learning opportunities Collaborate with students, families, counselors, teachers, and administrators to support student success Serve as an active member of the school's AVID Site Team to support program implementation and continuous improvement Model and share AVID strategies with staff to promote a college•and career-going culture Facilitate effective tutorial sessions in partnership with tutors Chaperone and support at least two college visits per year Participate in ongoing AVID professional learning (e.g., Summer Institute, AVID Path)Work Environment and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.Evaluation:
