Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled Grades 5-8 Math and Science Teacher to join our middle grades team. The ideal candidate will bring strong content knowledge, creativity, and a commitment to helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills in mathematics and science. This role requires an educator who can balance structured academic instruction with inquiry-based, hands-on, and project-based learning. The successful candidate will design engaging learning experiences that support state standards, prepare students for assessments, and encourage students to think critically about the world around them. Key ResponsibilitiesMath and Science Instruction Design and deliver high-quality instruction in Grades 5-8 Math and Science aligned with state standards and school curriculum expectations. Support students in building strong foundational skills, conceptual understanding, problem-solving strategies, scientific reasoning, and academic confidence. Inquiry-Based and Project-Based Learning Create learning experiences that reflect Wellheart's Reggio-inspired philosophy by encouraging student questions, investigation, experimentation, collaboration, and real-world application. Use hands-on labs, outdoor learning, projects, and community connections to deepen student understanding. Curriculum Planning Plan and implement lessons that follow structured Math and Science curriculum while allowing flexibility for student interest, inquiry, and interdisciplinary connections. Collaborate with colleagues to support alignment across grade levels and subject areas. Assessment and Student Growth Use formative assessments, classroom data, student work, and state assessment information to monitor progress, identify learning needs, and adjust instruction. Provide targeted support and enrichment so all students can grow academically. Classroom Environment Create a safe, inclusive, respectful, and engaging middle school classroom environment. Build routines and expectations that support independence, collaboration, academic risk-taking, and positive peer relationships. Documentation and Feedback Document student learning through observations, assessments, projects, portfolios, and student reflections. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and families about academic progress, work habits, and areas for continued growth. Family Partnership Communicate regularly and professionally with families about student progress. Professional Collaboration Work closely with the school team to support curriculum implementation, interdisciplinary projects, student support plans, and school-wide goals. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and collaborative planning. Whole-Child Support Support students' academic, social, and emotional development. Help middle school students build confidence, perseverance, organization, responsibility, and curiosity as learners. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field. Valid or eligible teaching certification for middle grades Math and/or Science. Strong understanding of middle school student development. Experience teaching Math and/or Science at the upper elementary or middle school level. Ability to design engaging, standards-aligned lessons that include hands-on and inquiry-based learning. Comfort using assessment data to guide instruction and support student growth. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues. Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to work in a Reggio-inspired and outdoor learning environment. Preferred Qualifications New Hampshire teaching certification or eligibility for certification. Experience teaching Grades 5-8 Math and/or Science. Experience with project-based, inquiry-based, outdoor, or Reggio-inspired learning. Familiarity with state standards and assessment expectations. Experience supporting a range of learners, including students who need intervention or enrichment. Comfort integrating technology, labs, fieldwork, and real-world problem solving into instruction. Working Conditions Full-time teaching position during regular school hours. Occasional evening involvement in family meetings, school events, or professional development.
