Job Description

Lower School Teacher St. John Bosco Schools Chesterton Academy of Rochester East Rochester, NY Job Details Full-time | Apprenticeship From $38,500 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Professional development assistance Qualifications Parent communication Working with students Lesson planning Full Job Description Job Overview We are looking for Faith-filled candidates looking to share their joy of learning with our school community. Rightly ordered, our faculty acts as a model of good Catholic morality, being a model of what living an authentically Catholic life looks like. Our school is a classical school, using age old strategies employed for thousands of years to expertly question our students and allow them to discover the Logos, or Truth of any particular lesson. Our teachers need to be coachable, potentially throwing out many of the techniques and ideas we learned in college for our methods. We don't teach to pass a test, we teach because the process of learning is Good and should be celebrated! Responsibilities Show our students how to live an authentically Catholic lifestyle through modeling and lesson planning. Develop and implement dynamic lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as religion, grammar, handwriting, math, science, and history. Foster a safe, respectful and prayerful classroom environment that encourages active participation and positive behavior management. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing and ongoing observations. Be willing to roll up the sleeves and pitch in wherever necessary, having an "all hands on deck" attitude. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school events, and professional development initiatives. Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral incidents in compliance with school policies. Skills First and foremost, connect with children. Show them they are loved and valued as a child of God. Strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students' families clearly and professionally. Having skills in working with special education students as we try to grow that aspect of our school would be of great benefit. Being ready to share that knowledge with others is a plus. Demonstrated ability to mentor students individually or in small groups to support their academic and spiritual growth. A willingness to embrace the Preventive System of St. John Bosco.
