Job Description

Middle School English Teacher/Department Chair for 2026-2027 Academic Year The Ramaz School is a co-educational, Modern Orthodox, independent school located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Ramaz has a rich history of Jewish education, academic distinction, and nurturing of individual abilities and aspirations. The Ramaz School has an opening for a Middle School English Teacher and Department Chair.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Teaching all aspects of literature, writing, vocabulary, and grammar to middle school students; Amending and developing the curriculum; Providing individualized support to students as necessary; Helping students grow as critical writers and thinkers; Maintaining accurate records of student performance and writing/reviewing report cards, including detailed narrative reports; Working with Lower School and Upper School department chairs transitioning students and ensuring curriculum is aligned; Running department meetings and professional development for the department; Demonstrating a commitment to professional growth through collaboration with colleagues Observing teachers and providing constructive feedback.
Requirements include:
Undergraduate degree (required) and Master's degree (preferred) in English or education; Experience teaching English, preferably at the middle school level; Familiarity with technology in English instruction; A genuine enthusiasm for teaching middle school students; and The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues about student learning and growth.
Compensation:
Full time annualized salary of $75,000-$95,000 (commensurate with relevant experience and education). The amount is prorated accordingly for a part time position. Please send cover letter and resume to: mscareers@ramaz.org.
