Job Description About Us:

Griffiss Institute is a STEM talent and technology accelerator dedicated to developing the next generation of STEM talent and defense technologies that strengthen U.S. national security and create economic opportunity for our region, state, and nation. This summer, we're continuing a series of week-long STEM camps across Oneida and Herkimer Counties NY, and we're looking for passionate educators to lead and support these exciting educational experiences. We're seeking motivated and enthusiastic instructors who are passionate about STEM and inspiring young minds. Ideal candidates are available for a temporary summer position and open to rotating between multiple camp locations. This is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits, except as required by New York State law.

Position Overview :

We are seeking part-time, seasonal Temporary STEM Instructors to support the delivery of engaging, hands-on STEM programming for students in grades 3-9. This is a part-time employee position that generally follows a Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. schedule, with some variation by week and location. Opportunities may also include stand-alone day programs and flexible scheduling options. This role is an excellent fit for educators and STEM professionals with teaching experience. STEM Instructors are responsible for implementing daily lesson plans and experiments for summer STEM camps across multiple educational sites. Ideal candidates bring strong organizational skills, a passion for STEM education, and the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow educators, support staff, and students. • Support and facilitate hands-on STEM activities across a range of topics, including coding, robotics, drones, quantum science, entrepreneurship, animation, and aerospace/rocketry
• Prepare instructional spaces and materials daily, facilitate lessons, manage cleanup, and informally assess student engagement and performance
• Help foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all participants
• Monitor attendance, safety protocols, and student participation throughout the program
• Review camp schedules, activities, and experiments in advance to ensure instructional readiness
• Collaborate with support staff to assist with instructional delivery and camp operations
• Attend required pre-camp orientation and setup sessions and participate in post-camp debriefing and reporting

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience in STEM, youth programming, and education is strongly preferred.
