$31.67/hour (paid weekly by timesheet) •Required Trainings and PD hours $18-20/hour
CONTRACT PERIOD
This is a contract position with the possibility of renewal pending a positive Performance Review and continued funding.
JOB SUMMARY
The Redhouse Arts Center is a nonprofit, multi-arts organization dedicated to creating transformative educational and community experiences that support the growth and well-being of young people. The Redhouse After School STEAM Instructor will work alongside other Redhouse Education Department staff under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor. The instructor may occasionally collaborate with the School District Partnership Director and Director of Education to ensure high-quality programming and positive student outcomes. The instructor will be responsible for planning and facilitating engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning experiences that encourage creativity, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Programming should integrate artistic expression and design thinking into STEM concepts, allowing students to explore, create, invent, and showcase their learning through hands-on projects. In addition to direct instruction, instructors participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and the ongoing development of Redhouse educational programming.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or facilitating activities with youth Knowledge of STEM, STEAM, engineering, coding, robotics, design thinking, maker education, digital media, visual arts, or related fields Strong classroom and group management skills Ability to create engaging, project-based learning experiences for diverse learners Strong cultural awareness skills and the ability to deliver culturally responsive programming Outstanding organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Experience with lesson planning, project development, and facilitating hands-on learning Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative and self-direction Ability to meet deadlines and complete responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner Ability to interact professionally and positively with students, families, school personnel, and community partners Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion Professional, creative, and team-centered attitude
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Plan and facilitate hands-on STEAM activities that foster creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration Develop project-based learning experiences that combine STEM concepts with artistic expression, design, storytelling, or creative problem-solving Guide students through inquiry-based learning, experimentation, prototyping, and design challenges Introduce students to concepts such as engineering, coding, robotics, environmental science, digital media, architecture, invention, and emerging technologies as appropriate Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to take risks, explore ideas, and learn from mistakes Monitor and evaluate student participation and progress, maintaining attendance and program records as required Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse learners Encourage teamwork, communication, perseverance, and innovation through collaborative projects Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to create interdisciplinary and engaging after-school experiences Attend faculty meetings and work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with colleagues Participate in professional development opportunities required by Redhouse and District Administration Assist with student showcases, exhibitions, community presentations, family engagement events, and special projects as needed
