Job Overview Note:
This position does not begin until August 2026. Lawrence County Joint Vocational School District is seeking a full-time High School Heating & Air Teacher for the Construction Academy. This teacher will provide safe, hands-on instruction in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical components, wiring, and related trade skills. The teacher will work with juniors and seniors to help them build job-ready skills and prepare for industry credentials such as
NCCER, OSHA
10, and EPA certifications. This position reports to the Construction Academy Supervisor and follows the Secondary Teacher Salary Schedule. The contract is 183 days. Responsibilities Teach heating, cooling, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing concepts to high school students. Provide safe, hands-on instruction in classroom and lab settings. Prepare students for career success and industry credentials, including
NCCER, OSHA
10, and EPA certifications. Maintain a safe and organized learning environment. Inspect and care for classroom tools, equipment, and training materials. Adjust teaching methods to support different learning styles and needs. Evaluate student progress, assign grades, and prepare progress reports. Monitor workforce trends and recommend program updates or equipment needs. Complete required district training in a timely manner. Follow district policies, administrative regulations, and Board directives. Support the mission and educational goals of LCJVSD. Support district marketing and communication efforts, including approved social media or content sharing. Qualifications Valid Ohio teacher license or certificate appropriate for the assignment (or ability to obtain). Minimum of three years of related industry experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Strong knowledge of residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. Hands-on skill with refrigeration, electrical components, wiring, and safe work practices. Must meet all health requirements required by law, including tuberculosis testing when applicable. Must successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks as required by Board policy.
Pay:
$36,778.00 - $52,875.00 per year
