Job Description

The Middle School ELA Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that promotes student growth in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills. The teacher will develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, assess student progress, and foster a positive classroom culture that encourages academic success and personal development. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction for middle school students Teach reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing, literature analysis, and communication skills Develop lesson plans aligned with state and district curriculum standards Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Assess student progress through assignments, tests, projects, and classroom participation Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Manage classroom behavior using effective discipline and classroom management strategies Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events Incorporate technology and instructional resources into daily lessons Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field Valid state teaching certification/licensure in English Language Arts or Middle Grades Education Previous teaching or student teaching experience preferred Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and school activities Ability to use computers and classroom technology effectively Work Environment School-based classroom setting Regular weekday schedule with occasional evening events, conferences, or extracurricular activities Collaborative work environment with faculty and administration
