JOB TITLE:
Middle School Technology Teacher Job Summary:
This position combines technology instruction, leadership development, restorative practices, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create an engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment for all students. Candidate will collaborate closely with school administration, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to develop and sustain programs that increase student belonging, leadership, digital literacy, and pro-social behavior. This role includes teaching technology and media production, facilitating student leadership opportunities, managing student activities and events, and supporting schoolwide IIRP restorative practices and PBIS initiatives. Students will become responsible leaders through service-learning projects, peer collaboration, video production, public speaking, and schoolwide engagement activities that strengthen school culture and student voice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership & Technology Integration Provide engaging instruction in technology, digital citizenship, media production, and computer applications aligned with district and state standards. Utilize instructional technology tools and innovative teaching strategies to increase student engagement, creativity, and achievement. Guide students through all stages of the video production process, including preproduction (planning, scripting, stakeholder input), production (filming and project management), and postproduction (editing and publishing). Build and maintain a student-led variety show focused on PBIS expectations, student activities, school culture, and student voice. Manage and maintain video production equipment, software, file libraries, and school media platforms, including school YouTube channels and digital archives. Teach and model responsible digital citizenship, collaboration, and online communication skills. Student Leadership & School Culture Develop and maintain a student leadership program that combines traditional leadership activities with inclusive application and election processes. Facilitate student leadership opportunities through collaborative projects, peer mentoring, assemblies, school campaigns, and service-learning initiatives. Lead students in planning and managing school activities such as dances, assemblies, fundraisers, and other extracurricular events. Support classes and activities using drama, improvisation, and public speaking to increase student confidence, communication, and leadership skills. Maintain a PBIS token economy system that reinforces positive student behavior and supports student incentives and school engagement. PBIS & Restorative Practices Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and PBIS teams to maintain and strengthen a culturally responsive PBIS framework. Integrate PBIS practices, restorative approaches, and social-emotional learning strategies into daily instruction and student interactions. Build strong relationships with students that promote accountability, belonging, leadership, and social-emotional growth. Support proactive behavior interventions and restorative mediation practices that foster positive school climate and student success. Assist in developing and facilitating professional development opportunities to increase staff capacity in restorative practices and mediation facilitation. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate effectively with school staff, families, students, and community partners to support student achievement and positive behavior outcomes. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, families, and stakeholders. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, behavior data, and program outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, professional learning communities, district professional development, and school improvement initiatives. Support additional school leadership, technology, and student engagement initatives as assigned.Qualifications:
Experience Required:
Prior success in job related experiences (may include successful supervised student teaching). Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state and district curriculum standards, credit and grading requirements (when applied), appropriate instructional subjects. Abilities to perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish, and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents/guardians, other school personnel, meet schedules and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include mobility in the classroom, lif ting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/ accommodation/field of vision.Education Required:
University degree in the field of education and/or State of Oregon requirements for a teaching license. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/orTesting Required:
State of Oregon Teaching License appropriate to assignment or ability to obtain, Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificates is required in some assignments. Trained in PBIS and IIRP practices. Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-0000 to 584-020-0045). Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing PBIS, restorative practices, culturally responsive teaching, or social-emotional learning strategies. Experience with video production, media editing, broadcasting, or digital content creation. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with middle school students. Knowledge of instructional technology platforms, digital learning systems, and classroom management tools. Experience leading student activities, leadership programs, mentoring, or extracurricular events. Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
