We are seeking a passionate and innovative Middle School Science/STEAM Teacher who believes every child deserves to be unlocked as a learner and who brings both creativity and expertise to make that happen. This educator will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on discovery for students with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia, language processing disorders, ADHD, and related learning profiles. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys while collaborating with a dynamic team of educators and specialists dedicated to helping every learner thrive. Job Summary The Middle School Science/STEAM Teacher will design and deliver engaging, multisensory, and highly interactive science and STEAM instruction for students in grades 6-8, and one section of 9th grade. The ideal candidate understands how to make rigorous content accessible through hands-on learning, project-based instruction, visual supports, movement, technology integration, and explicit executive functioning supports. This role includes fostering creativity, innovation, collaboration, and student confidence while helping students develop scientific thinking and real-world problem-solving skills in a supportive learning environment. Duties Design and deliver engaging science and STEAM lessons aligned with middle school learning standards and student needs. Create hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage exploration, experimentation, and creativity. Differentiate instruction to support students with language-based learning differences and executive functioning challenges. Utilize multisensory teaching methods, visual supports, and scaffolded instruction to deepen understanding of scientific concepts. Integrate engineering, technology, coding, design thinking, robotics, and problem-solving opportunities into instruction when appropriate. Foster a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, collaboration, self-advocacy, resilience, and inclusion. Collaborate closely with specialists, related service providers, and support staff to ensure student success. Incorporate assistive technology and adaptive tools to support student access and engagement. Assess student progress regularly through projects, performance tasks, formative assessments, and individualized feedback. Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth, progress, and classroom experiences. Participate actively in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and collaborative planning. Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment. Support school events, student showcases, and interdisciplinary STEAM initiatives. Requirements - Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, STEAM Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification or ability to obtain certification. Prefered - Specialized Training Experience or training in supporting students with language-based learning differences is highly preferred, including: Experience with executive functioning supports and differentiated instruction
STEM/STEAM
integration, robotics, coding, engineering, or maker-space instruction Experience and Skills Proven experience teaching middle school science and/or STEAM in a school setting. Strong understanding of inquiry-based and project-based learning practices. Ability to make complex concepts accessible for diverse learners. Knowledge of adolescent development and strategies to support student engagement and self-confidence. Experience differentiating instruction for students with dyslexia, ADHD, and related learning differences. Proficiency with instructional technology, adaptive tools, and digital learning platforms. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Passion for creativity, innovation, and fostering a love of learning in students.
