The individual should be passionate about teaching math and science and willing to work as a team with other middle school teachers. They will plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development while keeping with the school's Catholic character and Gospel values. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, they will develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical and scientific principles, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics and science in the solution of practical problems.Reports to:
Principal Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Develops and administers mathematics and science curriculum consistent with Diocesan school goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn about current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.Responsibilities/Tasks for:
Middle School teacher: Creates a positive and effective learning environment. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress. Prepare for assigned classes, and show written evidence of preparation upon the request of immediate supervisors. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.Work Environment:

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required): Must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in education, math, science, or a related field. An Instructional Certification in Middle-Level Math or Science (or an equivalent credential) is highly preferred. Otherwise, must be willing to work towards obtaining one. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. Must comply with PA State clearance requirements.
