Hybrid Homeschool Overview:
We are a Christian school seeking three dynamic and passionate part-time teachers to join our team and inspire young minds from kindergarten through 5th grade. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students of various age groups. The ability to engage students in critical thinking exercises is also highly valued. We offer a 1:6 - 1:7 teacher to student ratio and operates in a learning pod style.
Three positions are available:
K/1st, 2nd/3rd, and 4th/5th (final grade groupings will depend on enrollment). The 6th-8th grade position is filled. The teachers may collaborate and work alongside each other to deliver Science and Social Studies if deemed appropriate. We started in August, 2024, and have thrived. Responsibilities:
1.
Curriculum Development:
Develop and implement age-appropriate math and ELA lesson plans based on the Texas Education Agency curriculum standards for each grade level. Help in choosing appropriate materials for the school to purchase for different age groups. Utilize creative and innovative teaching methods to make math and ELA concepts accessible and enjoyable for students. Work with the other teachers to plan science and socials studies in a rotation throughout the year. 2.
Classroom Instruction:
Conduct engaging and interactive classes for students, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Provide individualized attention to students, addressing their unique learning needs and fostering their creative side. Manage multi-age groupings of students in workflows of each classroom day. Instruct students two days a week (Mon/Wed), while planning for and assigning tasks for home study two days a week (Tues/Thurs). If desired by families, there is an option to provide off-campus instruction on Tues/Thurs, assisting students with the assigned tasks. There is an additional role to run our Friday enrichment program from 11am-3pm. 3.
Assessment and Feedback:
Assess student progress frequently through age-appropriate methods. Group students for effective instruction based on ability and current needs. Provide constructive feedback to students and collaborate with parents to ensure a holistic approach to student development. Engage in feedback from school director on an ongoing basis. 4.
Parental Communication:
Maintain open and proactive communication with parents to discuss student progress, address concerns, and foster a collaborative learning community. Partner with parents as the home teacher two days a week, communicating tasks to be accomplished and providing resources as necessary. 5.
Classroom Management:
Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and respectful learning environment. Foster a culture of respect, cooperation, and enthusiasm for learning. Manage the unique, multi-age learning environment of Creekwood Academy with a mix of independent tasks, group tasks, and teacher directed tasks. 6.
Professional Collaboration:
Work with the other two teachers, if desired, to co-teach Science and Social Studies in afternoon blocks. Lead, or work with, the Friday Enrichment team in planning a cohesive program for students and families.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred. Current teaching certification preferred; expired acceptable. Previous experience teaching preferred. Strong understanding of the developmental stages of children and differentiated instruction, as students will be grouped and instructed in multi-age learning pods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to instruct in critical thinking exercises. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position, typically requiring 14 - 21 classroom hours per week. The core class days are Monday and Wednesday from 8:30am - 3 pm (teachers arriving at 8:15 and staying until 3:15). Our 4th/5th grade teacher will also instruct on Friday mornings, 8:30-11:00am. Our Friday enrichment teacher will lead the program from 11am - 3pm (only 1 of the 3 teachers hired will be needed for these hours). There is opportunity to also tutor off-campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays, depending on families' needs.
Pay :
Teachers will be hired as 1099 Independent Contractors, at an hourly rate of $40/hour. Retirement, health insurance, and other benefits are not offered.
